BY VUKAŠIN STOJKOV ON April 9

Startup Standup: Academy Edition took place on Saturday, April 6th in a large theater hall called UK Vuk. Startup Academy teams held their first presentations, 400+ participants heard four keynote lectures, and foreign tourists evaluated the event as “the best startup conference in this part of Europe.”

SEE ICT, the organization I’ve recently joined is known as a dedicated team, but regardless, we were pleasantly surprised by the great compliments we had received from all the participants.

Seedcamp firsts: New format, coming to Belgrade and hosted by the Royal Family

BY VUKAŠIN STOJKOV ON April 8

The first Mini Seedcamp event in Serbia took place last Friday, and it was a collection of firsts for the London accelerator. Their first visit to Belgrade, the premiere of the new format (scroll for our take) and the first time they have been hosted by a Royal Family. Not bad.

The event was attended by 100 entrepreneurs, investors, and other startup people from Serbia, the South-East Europe region and elsewhere from Europe. As far as the Serbian startup community is concerned, it is a shared feeling that this was a pivotal moment, especially in junction with Startup Standup the day after (to be covered separately).

In case you’ve missed the news, the inaugural (Mini) Seedcamp Belgrade will take place at a very special venue – the Royal Palace, on April the 5th. The event will coincide with the biggest startup event of the season, the Startup Standup event which takes place day later, on the 6th.

Seedcamp is almost unanimously recognized as the most important seed fund in Europe, and event in Belgrade will be held in the revamped, “Mini Seedcamp” format, in partnership with SEE ICT and Startit.

Belgrade is the first stop in their 2013 European tour, and we are positive that Seedcamp’s visit will have a big impact and help to further ignite the Serbian startup community – which is definitely gathering momentum and picking up pace.
