Serbia Stages 130 Events during Europe Code Week, Enters Top 10 Countries

This morning, around 150 elementary school kids gathered in Belgrade Startit Center to mark the beginning of the Code Week, which takes place from 15 to 23 October throughout Europe. With a total of 130 events to be organized this week, Serbia is among top ten countries that will take part in the “initiative to bring coding and digital literacy to everybody in a fun and engaging way”.

1,500 people, limitless energy and brave new startups

On 28 September, Startit held one of the biggest IT events in the country – the finale of the We Know We Can campaign. “We know we can”: 700+ people attend the central Serbian startup community event

The biggest startup event in Serbia this year was held on Saturday May 16th in Belgrade, with more than 700 people who attended a celebration of the growing local startup scene.

In some ways, what was celebrated under the motto We know we can was not just entrepreneurship, but a spirit of optimism, energy and determination in an apathetic country which takes second place in the world in the brain drain category due to harsh and absurd economic and social conditions.

12 new teams in Bulgarian accelerator Eleven

Bulgarian accelerator Eleven is, many would agree, one of the greatest supporter for regional early strage startups. They have just annonced 12 new teams that have entered in the 8th batch of this accelerator which makes total of 95 teams funded.

Although focused mainly on tech startups, this time around Eleven is venturing offline quite seriously with its first apparel, second healthy food and one sanitary ware company.

Tesla convoy promoting new accelerator and competitions for innovative startups

This week regional cities will be visited by  “Tesla convoy” that promotes new accelerator for startups „World Tesla Innovations Network – Accelerator“,  competition “The Next Tesla Thing” and entrepreneurship itself. Tesla Model S will travel the entire route and in each city will be joined with other electric and hybrid vehicles.

The aim of the event is to connect innovators, entrepreneurs and investors inspired by the work of Nikola Tesla with companies that want to use the patents of the company Tesla Motors, which were recently made ​​available by it’s founder Elon Musk. Key topics will be development of electric vehicle charging stations and generally renewable sources of energy.

Semaphore launches a GitHub-like platform for software testing and delivery

Semaphore, a cloud platform for testing and releasing software from last week has free public accounts for testing open source and a freemium model for private projects, whereby they will create an open platform for software testing and delivery, similar to what GitHub does for source code.

This team is bootstrapped from Serbia since 2011 and are punching above their weight with global customers such as 500px, General Assembly and Dribbble.
